Chapter 81: Elder Sect Brother, Let’s Fight

Mo Chen was slightly taken aback. He seemed to sense something in Su Qin's smile.

Su Qin turned around, his gaze falling on Mu Liunian and Liu Yangguang. Then he walked toward Liu Yangguang and smiled as he said, “Please.”

Mu Liunian's expression turned cold. Beside him, Liu Yangguang paled.

They were shocked by the power of the Snow Dandelion Sword in Mo Chen’s hand. They did not understand why Su Qin would challenge someone directly in a situation like this. In their opinion, those who rushed into a fight will use up more energy and often would not be able to last until the end.

Ding Ning's gaze shifted from the Snow Dandelion Sword. He frowned and spoke to Zhang Yi. “Eldest Sect Brother Zhang Yi, if you want to fight, then fight now. If Su Qin defeats Mu Liunian, he will face the three of us together with Mo Chen and Liu Yangguang. The three of us are weak compared to them. Liu Yangguang won't refuse Su Qin's invitation.”

Zhang Yi grimaced. “Younger Sect Brother Su Qin is facing an outsider right now. I won't attack him first. If it's as you say, I'll do my best to fight and try to protect you,” he said softly.

Ding Ning stilled. He looked at Zhang Yi helplessly and earnestly said, “Eldest Sect Brother Zhang Yi, you're too sentimental, like a woman.”

Zhang Yi turned to look at him and explained sincerely. “Friendship and kindness should be paramount among disciples of the same sect. As the eldest sect brother, no matter what others can do, I must set an example.”

As Ding Ning looked at him, his thoughts drifted to someone from the past. He fell silent and thought of the wall in his home, in the Falling Parasol Wine Shop.

“You should understand why i came to see you.” Seeing Mu Liunian still unmoved, Su Qin said, “Because you're weaker than the rest of them.”

Although his voice was calm, it still managed to instantly arouse one's anger.

Mu Liunian's gaze began to blaze. With a clang, his sword emerged from its sheath.

His sword was remarkably straight. But as his fingers gripped the hilt tightly, it emitted a soft ringing sound and numerous curved spikes appeared. His sword immediately took on the shape of a fishbone.

This was the unique Fish Spine Sword, belonging to the Yan Gate Commandery. Each curved spine could lock an opponent's sword in combat, preventing it from moving according to its momentum.

Without hesitation, Mu Liunian's Fish Spine Sword transformed into a dozen afterimages as it charged towards Su Qin. These dozen afterimages were the afterimages left by the Fish Spine Sword as it stabbed through the air. Furthermore, they left behind actual sword energy, making them seem like real swords flying through the air.

Facing the sword afterimages, Su Qin grinned sinisterly. His left hand swung, and a thick surge of vital energy flowed into the hilt of his sword. The purple longsword swung out.

Just one purple sword afterimage, but dozens of sword afterimages coming towards him were shattered into pieces.

Mu Liunian let out a long roar. All the energy in his body surged uncontrollably. The moment his true sword collided with Su Qin's longsword, the spikes on his Fish Spine Sword locked onto his opponent's blade.

But then, there was a loud bang. He felt a heat in his hand. Although he had blocked Su Qin's sword, the Fish Spine Sword was still pulled to his side by an irresistible force.

Su Qin smiled faintly. As he channeled a surge of vital energy, his longsword curved. A crescent-shaped sword light slashed at Mu Liunian's arm.

Mu Liunian was shocked to discover that although it appeared as if he had locked onto Su Qin’s sword, it was actually Su Qin's sword that had locked his sword. Seeing the sword light slashing towards him, he held his breath, released his hand, and was thrown back.

Even so, a bloody wound appeared on his chest.

Seeing this astonishing movement, Mo Chen gripped the Snow Dandelion Sword even tighter. Liu Yangguang's face grew paler.

“He's truly powerful.” Nangong Caishu took a deep breath. She watched the Fish Spine Sword slip from Su Qin’s sword and fall into the mud. She asked Zhang Yi, “What kind of longsword does he have?”

“Younger Sect Brother Su Qin’s sword is called Perilla.” Zhang Yi looked at her and Ding Ning and then grimly continued. “Coupled with the Wind Willow Sword Manual that he primarily cultivates, his sword is as flexible and changeable as a willow in the wind. Furthermore, Younger Sect Brother Su Qin now possesses iron strength within his softness and has improved greatly over the years.”

“I will not attack you because in the end there will be three winners.” Su Qin put away his sword and looked at the pale Liu Yangguang. “I know that your Light Facing Sword is good. Your name has the character for willow, as does my sword cultivation manual. We could be said to have destiny. You can fight alongside Mo Chen and me. If we can win against Zhang Yi, Ding Ning, and Nangong Caishu, we will be the three winners of the sword trial festival,” he said slowly.

Liu Yangguang trembled. He instinctively took a deep breath, his pale face turning a deep red.

“Victory and the green jade amber are more tempting than any words. It seems you're unfortunately right.” Nangong Caishu’s eyes narrowed. “Elder Sect Brother Zhang Yi, you face Mo Chen, I’ll delay Su Qin, and Ding Ning, you face Liu Yangguang. If Elder Sect Brother Zhang Yi can defeat Mo Chen, I can delay Su Qin, and Ding Ning, if you defeat Liu Yangguang, then the three of us will be the final winners. If you can’t win, wait for Elder Sect Brother Zhang Yi… I'll try to buy you some time.”

Zhang Yi looked at Nangong Caishu. “Doesn’t this seem wrong?” he said hesitantly.

“Of course, it’s wrong!” Ding Ning laughed.

Zhang Yi and Nangong Caishu looked at him in confusion. They did not understand how he could laugh so cheerfully at a time like this.

“I have a better alternative.”

Ding Ning looked at the three people slowly approaching them and said quietly, “Eldest Sect Brother Zhang Yi, you face Mo Chen and Nangong Caishu, and you face Liu Yangguang.”

Zhang Yi and Nangong Caishu stilled and asked in unison, “What about you?”

Ding Ning looked at the two of them as if they were idiots and said, “That means only Su Qin and I are left. Of course, I'll face Su Qin.”

Zhang Yi frowned and looked at Ding Ning as if he were the one looking at an idiot. “I don't understand what's so good about Youngest Sect Brother’s plan?”

Ding Ning laughed and said, “Her plan is to sacrifice herself. My plan will allow the three of us to win. Of course, that’s better!”

Now it was Nangong Caishu’s turn to stare at Ding Ning like he was an idiot. “The three of us win? You mean you can win against Su Qin?”

Ding Ning nodded solemnly. “I know you don’t believe me, but I really can win.”

Zhang Yi and Nangong Caishu exchanged glances.

“Youngest Sect Brother, I know you have extraordinary talent, but your words sound like you’re sacrificing yourself right now and lying to uss,” Zhang Yi said with a frown. “This isn’t good.”

Nangong Caishu took a deep breath, looked at Ding Ning, and said, “Give me a reason to believe you.”

Ding Ning looked at her, nodded and said, “There are some things I’ve been hiding… also, I once saw the Wind Willow Sword Manual in the Library Cave.”

When the Library Cave was mentioned, Nangong Caishu suddenly remembered many things. Instantly, she became excited and nervous, but still doubtful. “You've really read the Wind Willow Sword Manual?” she asked, still doubtful.

Seeing her clear gaze, Ding Ning was a little embarrassed. He did not even know where the Wind Willow Sword Manual was in the Library Cave. He had not paid any attention to this sword manual, but he had confidence. “Of course!”

Zhang Yi spoke up. “Youngest Sect Brother…”

Ding Ning’s embarrassment turned to anger. He said, “It’s fine if you're sentimental like a woman, but if you keep nagging, I'll curse you!”

“I choose to believe you. But if you can't accomplish this, and I get the green jade amber, I'll give it to you. You can't refuse.” Nangong Caishu took a deep breath, determination radiating from her eyes.

Ding Ning clapped his hands. “Agreed!”

“Youngest Sect Brother…” Zhang Yi spoke again.

Ding Ning frowned, and almost exploded.

“Forced by the circumstances, I can only choose to trust you this time,” Zhang Yi quickly said.

Ding Ning’s anger transformed into a thin smile. “Eldest Sect Brother, you’re not bad.”

But then he almost flew into a rage again, and that was because as Zhang Yi walked past him and toward Mo Chen, he whispered softly in his ear. “But where can we get the Wind Willow Sword Manual in the Library Cave of the White Goat Cave? The Wind Willow Sword Manual is passed down from Younger Sect Brother Su Qin’s family. So, Youngest Sect Brother, you’ve lied. Integrity should come first in life. Especially since Nangong Caishu is such a good girl.”

“Zhang Yi, what is the meaning of all this?” Seeing Zhang Yi advancing toward Mo Chen, Su Qin’s pupils contracted. He said, “Your opponent is me.”

“To decide who will fight who, you are not the only one here who can decide.” Nangong Caishu raised the Fish Scaly Metal Sword in her hand and pointed at Liu Yangguang. “Elder Sect Brother Yangguang, I'd like to experience your Light Facing Sword.”

Liu Yangguang paused for a moment and could not help but glance at Su Qin.

Su Qin was also momentarily confused and frowned at Ding Ning.

However, Ding Ning simply laughed and, in a extremely insincere, painfully sweet tone, he said, “Elder Sect Brother Su Qin, let’s fight!”
